Single-Project General Liability Insurance
Not every contractor needs — or wants — an annual GL program. Single-project general liability insurance covers you for one specific project, with limits and pricing tailored to that job alone. No annual audit. No minimum earned premium. Coverage that matches your actual exposure.
What Is Single-Project GL Insurance?
Single-project general liability (GL) insurance is a policy written specifically for one construction or contracting project. Instead of an annual policy that covers all your operations throughout the year, a single-project policy has a defined start and end date tied to a specific job — and is priced accordingly.
Annual GL policies are priced based on projected annual revenue and are subject to an audit at year-end. If your revenue is low or intermittent, an annual policy can be expensive relative to your actual exposure. A single-project policy eliminates that mismatch — you pay for the coverage you actually need on the job you're actually doing.
Single-project policies are structured the same as annual GL policies: per-occurrence and aggregate limits, additional insured endorsements, waiver of subrogation — all the standard provisions your contracts require.
What's Covered

Who Needs Single-Project GL?
Advantages of Single-Project Coverage
No Year-End Audit
Annual GL policies require a premium audit at policy expiration. Single-project policies are fully earned at the project end — no audit, no surprise additional premium.
Priced for Your Actual Project
Annual policies price based on projected annual revenue. Single-project policies are priced on the actual contract value and project type — no overpaying for revenue you don't have.
Available When Annual Markets Won't Write
Some project types (condos, high-rise, asbestos abatement, certain demolition) are excluded by annual markets. Project-specific markets often write these when annual carriers won't.
